What is the MIM 17-4 PH?
Because of its exceptional strength, hardness, and resistance to corrosion, 17-4 PH stainless steel is one of the most widely used materials in the Metal Injection Molding (MIM) industry.
Based on the AISI 17-4 PH standard, MIM 17-4 PH is a martensitic precipitation-hardening stainless steel. It is distinguished by a favorable blend of corrosion resistance and mechanical qualities.
It is typical in MIM since the mechanical characteristics allow for the creation of parts that maintain their strength. By changing certain parameters, it is possible to achieve some secondary hardening during the sintering process.
The material is comparable to 304L in terms of corrosion and can be used in many applications where mechanical qualities are necessary. Furthermore, bulk 304 powders are not offered for MIM.
